About fallow deer and mouflon hunting

Fallow deer and mouflon are non-native species in Norway with very limited populations. Hunting takes place in a few municipalities in southern Norway and is limited in scope.

The fallow deer is somewhat smaller than the red deer and has characteristic palmate antlers. It tends to live in herds and can be observed on open meadows at dusk.

Hunting is done as stand hunting or stalking and requires the same skills as other deer hunting. Check local regulations, as there may be special rules for these species.
