About brown hare and wild rabbit hunting
The brown hare is larger than the native mountain hare and stays in the lowlands. Hunting is done the same way as for mountain hare, with running hounds or stalking.
The brown hare does not turn white in winter, which distinguishes it from the mountain hare. It is a non-native species, and harvesting is desirable from a management perspective.

Distribution
Sørharen er en fremmed art som finnes i lavlandet i Sør-Norge, særlig i Østfold, Vestfold og Agder. Viltlevende kanin har svært begrenset utbredelse.
Terrain
Åpent kulturlandskap med åkre og enger. Sørharen foretrekker flatere terreng enn den vanlige haren og er mer knyttet til jordbrukslandskapet.
Identification
Gulbrun hele året, skifter ikke til hvit vinterpels. Større enn vanlig hare med lengre ører.
