About pheasant hunting

Pheasant hunting is popular in many European countries but has limited scope in Norway. The best opportunities are found in the lowlands of Vestfold and Østfold, where the pheasant has established itself in the agricultural landscape.

The hunt is typically conducted as driven shooting with dogs. The pheasant prefers to run rather than fly, and a good dog is necessary to flush it. When it does take off, it does so with a tremendous burst of noise that can catch you off guard if you're not prepared.

The rooster pheasant is a magnificent bird with a long tail and colorful plumage. The hunt is a fine social activity for smaller groups.
