About common merganser hunting
The common merganser is the largest of the fish-eating ducks and an impressive bird in flight. Hunting takes place at lakes and rivers, often in combination with other duck hunting.
Like the red-breasted merganser, the common merganser has fishy-tasting meat. Many hunters therefore leave it alone, unless it poses a problem for fish stocks.
It is fast and powerful in flight and typically flies low over the water surface.

Distribution
Laksanda hekker ved innsjøer og elver i hele Norge, men er vanligst i innlandet og langs elvene i Sør- og Midt-Norge.
Terrain
Klare innsjøer, elver og vassdrag. Laksanda er en stor fiskand som dykker etter fisk i ferskvann.
Identification
Hannen har grønnsvart hode uten topp, hvit kropp og rødt nebb. Hunnen har brunt hode med bustete topp.
