The wigeon is one of the most common migratory ducks in Norway, and hunting is best during the autumn migration in September and October. Large flocks can gather on coastal meadows and in shallow bays.
Hunting is done as stand hunting, typically along the coast where wigeons graze on grass meadows near the sea. Decoys can be used effectively.
The male wigeon has a distinctive whistling call that carries far. You often hear the flock before you see it.

Brunnakka hekker spredt i fjellområder og på vidder i hele Norge. Under trekket om høsten samles store flokker langs kysten og ved innsjøer i lavlandet.
Terrain
Fjellvann og myrer om sommeren. Under trekket beiter den på strandenger og grunne bukter langs kysten. Brunnakka er en gressende and som ofte finnes på land.
Identification
Hannen har kastanjebrunt hode med gul panne. Hunnen er brunlig. Begge har hvitt vingefelt i flukten.
Hunting Tips
Best under høsttrekket. Let langs kysten og ved strandenger. Brunnakka beiter ofte på land og er lettere å komme innpå enn mange andre ender.
