About fieldfare hunting
Fieldfare hunting is a traditional form of hunting that has lost attention, but offers fine hunting and good meat. Thrushes gather in large flocks in autumn and can be taken by standing near their flight paths.
The hunt usually takes place near rowan trees and other berry-rich trees where the thrushes congregate. A simple stand with a good view is all you need. When the flock arrives, it's all about being quick.
Fieldfare pie is an old Norwegian delicacy that deserves a revival.

Distribution
Gråtrosten er vanlig i hele Norge, fra kystområder til fjellet. Om høsten samles store flokker i lavlandet, særlig i områder med bærrike trær.
Terrain
Åpent landskap med spredte trær, jordbruksmark og hager. Gråtrosten beiter på bær (rogn, hagtorn) og mark på gressenger.
Identification
Grått hode og overgump, kastanjebrunt rygg og spraglete bryst.
Hunting Tips
Finn rognetrær med mye bær. Trostene kommer tilbake til de samme trærne dag etter dag.
